Kira wanted to pursue employment in the community services sector but was unsure of where to start. She joined our Transition to Work service at the age of 19 and was very motivated to engage and realise her goals and aspirations.
Then a place became available in the pre-employment community services program her Youth Development Coach suggested she apply. Kira was chosen as one of the participants and successfully undertook the 8-week intensive short course, including a two-week work placement at Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation in the aged care social program.
The community services program involved completion of 3 units of competency from the Individual Support training package, a Senior First Aid certificate, industry tours and gaining a “tool kit” full of work readiness.
Shortly after she finished Kira was offered a position with Larrakia Nation and is over the moon with the outcome.
